How blepharoplasty is done
- Small incisions are made along the natural lines of the eyelids, such as the creases of the upper lids and below the lashes of the lower lids
- The skin is separated from the underlying fatty tissue
- Muscle, excess fat and excess skin are removed
- The incisions are closed
- The procedure typically takes one to three hours
Recovery time
- Initial swelling and bruising take one to two weeks to resolve
- Several months are needed for the final result to stabilize
